The Hong Kong Business Ethics Development Centre continues to serve as a supporting organisation for the HKIB Annual Banking Conference this year and encourages banking executives and related professionals to join the event.

 

The theme of this year's event is "Innovation and Transformation: A Brave New World of Banking".  It will focus on how digital transformation, innovation and the addition of virtual banks into Hong Kong's banking system have revolutionised the industry by opening the doors to better user experience, product innovation, cost and operational efficiency and delivery channels.  Details of the event as below:

ACRU 2020, an annual signature event of The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries (HKICS), will be held on 5 June 2020 (Friday).  Representatives from regulatory bodies and expert practitioners will provide updates on enforcement developments and discuss on regulatory related matters. Executive Director of the Hong Kong Business Ethics Development Centre will also share the insights on anti-corruption and ethical governance in the event.  

 

ACRU 2020 provides a compelling forum on governance related issues for governance professionals, company secretaries, directors, and senior management.  The event will be conducted online this year. Six ECPD points will be granted to eligible participants who attended all sessions of the event.

Serving as a supporting organisation of the IFTA FinTech Achievement Awards 2019 (the Awards), HKBEDC encourages corporates and individuals in the FinTech community to participate in the Awards.

 

The Awards, which aims to encourage corporate and professional development and facilitate the sustainable is organised by the Institute of Financial Technologists of Asia (IFTA).

The Hong Kong Business Ethics Development Centre strives to maintain the highest level of integrity and competence of the financial sector. We encourage financial institutions to participate in the Hong Kong ICT (HKICT) Awards 2020 - FinTech Award.

 

The FinTech Award aims to encourage the development of fintech innovation and solutions for enhancing operations and fostering new modes of business for the financial sector. It comprises three streams this year:

1. Banking, Insurance and Capital Markets

2. Emerging Solutions

3. Regulatory Technology and Risk Management*

    *Includes Fintech Security

 

Being a supporting organisation of the FinTech Award, the Centre encourages companies in the banking, insurance, securities trading as well as fund and asset management industries to submit entries. Following the successful launch of the “Starting-Up Right!” programme for novice entrepreneurs and start-ups, the Hong Kong Business Ethics Development Centre (HKBEDC) has recently formed a “Starting-Up Right! Connectors Network” (the Network) to link start-up connectors together and exchange useful information on business ethics and anti-corruption.

 

Start-up incubators, accelerators, alongside start-up communities and organisations that coordinate local start-ups activities, are cordially invited to join the Network and assist in disseminating integrity messages to their connected start-ups. Participating connectors can:

 

• receive news from the HKBEDC on its business ethics initiatives

• access to the latest ICAC’s publications and anti-corruption resources

• obtain “Anti-corruption Information Kit for Start-ups & SMEs”, pamphlets, feature articles, etc. for distribution to the connected start-ups

• use ICAC’s free services, including arrange talks and sharing sessions on corruption prevention for start-ups

The Hong Kong Business Ethics Development Centre (HKBEDC) has been partnering with the Hong Kong Institute of Directors (HKIoD) for years in promoting corporate governance and ethical leadership. HKBEDC will serve as the supporting organisation of “Directors of The Year Awards 2019” and “Directors’ Symposium 2019”.

 

The theme of the events is “Embracing Innovation for Sustainable Growth”. The “Directors of The Year Awards 2019” aims to recognise outstanding boards and directors as well as to promote good corporate governance and director professionalism. Companies and individual directors are invited to submit their nominations to HKIoD by 31 July (Wed) 5:00pm.

 

The “Directors’ Symposium 2019” will be held on 17 September (Tue) at the HKEX Connect Hall. Directors, senior executives and professionals are encouraged to join the Symposium to gain insights from speakers on how to exercise creativity to innovate solutions that make a meaningful impact to business and society. Early bird registration is available on or before 16 August (Fri).

The Conference is an annual event organised by HKIB. With the theme “The New Future of Banking and Bankers – Greater Bay Area and Digitalisation”, this year’s event will focus on the digital innovations and policies adjustments in the banking industry, including the latest technological advancements and the national Greater Bay Area masterplan, which offer exciting opportunities to the financial services sector. It will dive deep into these new changes and discuss on how to implement and take advantage of these fundamental changes to the banking industry as banking evolves over the next decade.

Integrity and credibility are the foundations of good business. They also form part of the core value of Hong Kong’s testing and certification (T&C) sector. To maintain a high standard of integrity in the industry, the Hong Kong Business Ethics Development Centre (HKBEDC) will jointly orgnise a seminar with the Hong Kong Council for Testing and Certification as well as the Hong Kong Accreditation Service on 19 June 2019 (Wednesday).

 

The seminar will cover ethical issues in the T&C sector, anti-corruption laws and anti-bribery management system as well as fair trading practice. Details of the seminar as follow:
